East Coast Bands - has existed for over two and a half years now. Future plans involve building East Coast Bands into a larger support organization for the Mid - Atlantic music scene. There are several services currently offered. The website has links and information that can be helpful to groups trying to develop an area presence. There is an affordable 24 track project studio available. We offer assistance with the whole process of producing CD releases, from the CD cover art design to the CD duplication, and the further promotion of selected releases. Some of the local groups we have produced releases with in the past are the Blackman - Barke Quartet (Shadowdance), Natural Distance (Self Titled, Propaganda), Rezin (Stanley), The Furies (Scratch), Doubtful Heroes (Demo), Congregation (Urban Philosophy), Shake (Self Titled). The goals behind the website are focused on helping area groups communicate with each other, and assist groups building their internet and local presence. There are plans to integrate several websites with eastcoastbands dedicated to specific genres of music, where *free* web space will be offered to interested parties who have a genuine interest in supporting area music. LISTING: Hey Baltimore Bands, each week I do a short column in the Maryland
Institute, College of Art "Cobalt Soup" newsletter. The column lists
two or three upcoming shows, usually one for each night of the weekend,
but sometimes weeknight shows are listed as well. It's a great way for
students from outside of Baltimore to get into our fine scene here.
The only requirements are that the bands listed are from Baltimore or
pretty darn near and that the shows be in Baltimore or pretty darn near.
Any band can be listed, but only once per semester. If you would like
to be listed, please send me the date of your show, any good stuff like
cover charge, age limit, costume required, etc., and also pick a word
or two to describe your music (ie blues, eclectic, jazz, funk, spastic
arhythms, whatever--if you don't tell me I'll make one up!). I need
to know a few weeks in advance, no last minute stuff because I have
a deadline. In addition to being in print the listin! gs are posted
